FAQ

Q: It's my first massage, what can I expect?

A: You will arrive approx 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time at 7705 Doughty Rd.  Clients should shower and/or be clean for appointment.  My massage room is located on the ground floor under the main deck; look for the gray door with the wooden step and planters next to the step.  I provide a peaceful environment with a warmed table and tranquil sounds.  If the client has long hair, I ask that it be put up with a hair tie, and to take off any jewelry that can easily be removed (I provide hair ties for those who did not bring one).   I will leave the room while client dresses down to their comfort level (which can be shorts or underwear left on, or can be fully undressed since the body will be covered by sheets and blanket during the massage with only the area I am working on being exposed).  Client will get onto the table, under the covers and I will return to the room to begin the massage. The client is encouraged to provide feedback on their preferred table temperature and massage pressure.  If the client has a wound I ask that it be properly covered.  If you are currently dealing an with an illness or other communicable condition of any kind I ask that the client reschedules their appointment for the safety of myself and other clients.

Q:  What forms of payment do you take?

A:  I am happy to take cash or credit card/debit card payment via Square.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A:  I am not able to take insurance as payment for massage.  However, I do have clients that submit a receipt to their insurance company for reimbursement or partial reimbursement for treatment.  You would need to check with your insurance company specifically regarding reimbursement.  If you like a receipt, please let me know ahead of time so I can have one prepared.

Q: How often should I get massage?

A:  This answer will vary by individual.  If we are working on a chronic condition or sub acute injury weekly treatment may be recommended until baseline has been reached.  For general maintenance massage client preferences are generally between every 2 - 6 weeks.

Q: What if I fall asleep?

A:  Falling asleep during a massage is something that happens fairly regularly.  I will continue the massage as usual and your body will reap the benefits while you get a nap.

Q: What type of massage do you offer?

A:  I am trained in Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, cupping and gua sha.  I generally incorporate multiple modalities during a massage depending on client request and my assessment of the muscle/tissue.  However I do tend to primarily focus on deep tissue rather than Swedish/relaxation.  If you would like focused work in one of these modalities or do not want a specific modality please let me know so I can accommodate your preference.

Q: How long of a massage should I get?

A:  This answer will vary by individual and preference.  I do recommend for first time massages and clients seeking focused deep work to a specific area not schedule over 60 minutes.  That being said, the majority of my regular clients enjoy the 90 minute session.

Q: What if I need to use the bathroom?

A:  I recommend using the restroom prior to your massage, but it can occassionally happen that you'll need to go during the massage.  I want you to be relaxed, so if you're focused on holding it in, it will interfere with your expereince.  So please speak up and I will make sure you are able to take a bathroom break.

Q: Am a supposed to tip?

A: Gratuity is never required but always appreciated.

Q: Am I supposed to talk during my massage?

A: Some people enjoy chatting during their session, but don't feel like you have to make conversation.  If you want to close your eyes and relax that is perfectly fine, however please speak up if you are too hot or cold, you're in pain or if you have any questions or comments.
